Puppies 1-2.5 weeks old

Everybody is doing great! Bille is such a great mother. She takes excellent care of the pups. Puppies cannot regulate their own body temperature or go to the bathroom on their own for the first three to four weeks of life. So Bille has to do it all!

She is spending quite a bit of time hanging out with me out of the puppy room these days.

The pups are just finishing up their ENS ( early neurological stimulation). ENS Puppy Culture explained here.

And they are just opening their eyes! They will be 3 weeks old in 3 days!

  My, how the puppies are growing! They are running around, playing, and barking, wrestling and chasing each other. They are such joyful little beings! They are continuing their potty training outside, and they're getting very good about going potty only on the potty pads in their puppy pen inside. I’ve been conditioning them to the call, “puppy, puppy, puppy!” in a high-pitched voice since they were about 3 weeks old when I first started feeding them solid food.  I have started training sessions with them, giving them tiny bits of treats while I say “puppy, puppy, puppy!”. Now when I call “puppy, puppy, puppy!”, they are starting to come when called! They are learning that when I open the gate to their puppy pen in the living room, they should run through the kitchen, laundry room, down the back steps, and into their big enclosure in the backyard. Puppies 3-5 weeks old

  The puppies are growing by leaps and bounds. They started their weaning process at about 3 and 1/2 weeks on a little cottage cheese and yogurt pudding. Now they are on puppy pudding. The weaning process takes about a month; it's very gradual. Bille, the mom, is spending more time with the rest of the family as the puppies become a little more independent. The puppies have begun playing and potty training on their potty pads. They are getting super animated and vocal. They love to talk to us when we come into play with them. They are just about ready to be moved into the living room, where they will be at the center of everything so they can begin to be exposed to all household noises and commotion. Next week, they will start going outside to play! Puppies learning to eat solid food. Notice Bille spilled her own food on the floor trying to get to the puppy food!
